New Site Design Nearing completion
We are about to freshen up the front of the site to give more room to items while also updating some back end code that will speed up the access of the site.
Most of the changes we make user won't really notice, the will be some thing going and other thing arriving that you proberbly didn't notice anyway.
As we said we want to make better use of the space available to today surfers. For example it was only a few years ago that the average size of computer monitor screens was 14 inches or 15 inches. Now even Laptops are arriving with 17in and the average home computer monitor is a massive 19ins.
And this mean people are able run with much finer resolutions and that basicly means that the is a lot more space available to fill. Most site set the width and only use a stripe down the middle. We have decided to use the full width because it mean when you open the site you have to do less scrolling to see the detail.
We are also going to use a new tabbed window which means 5 or 6 times more information is available within your eyesight without scrolling.
The sidebar on one side will only show on the front page. We've done this because we've found that people would prefer a lot more space to enter auction titles. For example in the past fitting "FA CUP SEMI-FINAL April 3rd 1984 Manchester United v Southampton Good condition" would be a bit of a squeeze. For this reason when we decided on the last design we left off thumbnail images of items on the main auctions listing. Now due to this change we can employ them and on KO3PM we won't change you a "Gallery fee".
So that it more space, more featured items and easy access to items as well as our normal vast top level category listing mean almost anything you want should be within a few clicks. Less searching and more buying with a bit of luck. BUT - The is still time to express your opinion on what you want to see - if we can't include it now we'll make a note for next time.
