Cycling in Ronda
I've mentioned before about cycling in Ronda, well last weekend we had a major cycling event here in recognition of the dangers of drink driving. Around about 300 cyclists, including children, parents, and professional cyclists took part.

The route started at the bottom end of town at the old football ground, went up Calle Malaga, turned towards the bus station, then did a loop past the Alameda park before heading back to the football ground. All up around 4 or 5 kilometers.

I had planned to get involved and be part of the entire ride but I was given the wrong start location by a friend and only just found them after they had started so I missed out on getting my number and buying my shirt for the ride.

It worked out OK, by gate crashing the event I had no worries about shooting ahead of all the other cyclists and getting into position to get some photos, although I must say that was the fastest I've ever ridden a bike, I even cut out into the oncoming traffic to get past them all.

The photo you see here is taken outside the railway station as they did a left turn from Avenida de Martinez Astein into Avenida de Andalucia, and if you don't know Ronda I suppose that won't mean much to you, but take my word getting from the football ground to here is no short sprint.

My legs were absolutely caning, they felt like jelly, and then after they'd gone past and I'd chained my bike up we ended walking another several kilometers through town, first trying to catch the cyclists at another intersection, and then to do some shopping. Urghhhh, too much exercise.
