Manchester United vs Marseille : Preview.

After a 0-0 draw in the first leg Manchester United will look to use the home advantage and defeat Marseille tonight in order to progress to the Champions League quarter final. The first leg was a rather drab affair with neither side willing to take any risks but tonight will be different as Manchester United need a win as a score draw will see Marseille go through on away goals.

Ideally Manchester United would have liked an away goal to take in to the 2nd leg at home for protection but Marseille did a good job of shutting them out at the Stade Velodrome and an away goal this evening would put the French club in a great position.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be wary of that away goal threat from Marseille but that won’t stop him ordering his side to attack as he knows that only a win will do for Manchester United here tonight. The home form of United has been remarkable this season, it has been their away form that has let them down, so despite the meek performance in France three weeks ago Manchester United will be red hot favourites and their fans will expect a strong performance.

Michael Carrick and Nani look set to feature against Marseille with Sir Alex Ferguson announcing that both players had trained on Sunday and Monday and will be involved tonight. Whether or not they will start or just be placed on the bench remains to be seen however.
