How to Win Over Anyone in a Conversation

Thursday, 22 December 2011

It takes more than having good looks and charm to win over someone. You need to flatter that special someone somehow which means you have to be pretty smooth with your conversation skills. Even the best looking people can make or break a date by either saying the wrong thing or not saying the right thing in a conversation. Here are a few tips to help you better win over any cutie you see in any social environment.

1. Start to develop a rapport
After striking up a conversation, pay close attention to their interests, how they talk, and their hobbies. Find out what makes them angry and what makes them smile. If you can relate to any of the things she has mentioned, start developing a rapport and show that you have things in common. After laughing and constant “I know, that’s what I always say!”, then you two will feel like you’ve known each other for years.

2. Give specific and genuine compliments
Instead of the typical you are beautiful and you have gorgeous eyes comments, try broadening your creativity and really examine the person. By giving them a detailed and specific compliment, you will show them that you are genuinely interested in them and not just some player. Try to compliment qualities that are unrelated to looks.

3. Congratulate them
Did they recently do something that they are proud of or that sounds amazing to you? If so, congratulate them and praise them for it. Ask them more about their feat and how they obtained it. This will show genuine interest in their life and also make them feel good that someone appreciates their efforts in whatever they have done.

4. Tease your date
Right off the bat, you can start teasing your date. This will give the indication that you are genuinely interested in them and will also be fun. Make playful jokes, laugh a lot, and most importantly, laugh together.

5. Say their name a lot
Instead of saying “Wow, that’s amazing!” why not say “Wow, that’s really amazing Jenny” or whatever their name is. Emphasize their name and really use it as much as you can. This will show them you are completely focused on them.
