Dating as a Single Parent. Part II

Friday, 03 June 2011

If you really want love in your life, you are never too busy to find it and make it happen. As a single parent, this does not change. Even if you are not looking for a full blown out serious relationship yet, you might still want to find a potential partner and love.

As a single parent, you can find plenty of time to date even if your child takes up most of your time. For example, if your child is at school or is at the other parent’s place, that opens up hours of opportunities to date. Remember not to make the date seem like a business meeting that you squeezed into your schedule, but treat it like an actual date.

Speaking of the other parent, when is it a good time to actually introduce the new partner in your life to your ex? This can be a rather awkward situation so this is entirely up to you when it is appropriate. If the relationship becomes more serious, like living together or engaged, then of course it might be best to introduce the new person to your ex as this person will now have an important impact on the child. You don’t need to establish a friendship between the two, just let him or her know that you have found a new person in your life and that it is serious.

So before that, the dating life has gone really well with a certain someone, when do you find time to sleep with him or her? If you have some time off, just like when you found time to go on a date, consider spending the next date at his or her place or even meeting up with your date for lunch sex. Either way, if you found time to date, you can find time to end the date or make the sex actually happen.

Dating as a single parent can be a bit awkward at times and might seem nearly impossible having a child around. If you make some time for yourself, explain to your child the reasons why you are dating, what dating is exactly, and the new person in your life, you will find that dating as a single parent can be a rewarding experience and doesn’t have to be stressful at all.
