Celebrity Today Movie Report - 1/11/2010

Here we are, the first true weekend of the new year, and things are finally getting back to normal. There is no real surprise that Avatar is still on top of the box office game. The movie looks unstoppable by this point, and the only movie to ever make more world wide is also by James Cameron with his Titanic. Avatar came out on top this week with $48.5 million in earnings. The new releases this week didn’t even make it to the top three. Daybreakers managed to come fourth place with $15 million at the box office. Leap Year and Youth In Revolt came in just a bit lower than that.

As for new releases this week, we have The Lovely Bones going in wide release and The Book of Eli hitting theaters. The end of time seems to be a popular theme on television and movies this month. As far as the new releases coming to store shelves, you have Fame, Halloween II and Post Grad coming out on DVD, and new music from Vampire Weekend and Lady Gaga.
