Bent committed to Villa

Aston Villa’s Darren Bent has rejected claims that he could be the next high-profile name to leave Villa Park and has reaffirmed his commitment to the club.

The England striker only signed for the Villains in January and helped the club steer away from the relegation zone and they eventually finished comfortably in mid table. Bent scored nine times in 16 games and has almost justified what many saw as an overblown transfer fee on £24million. Bent’s form has seen him become England’s main striker and many now see him as the ideal target man in Fabio Capello’s side. Those following the Betfair mobile betting will know how dangerous he can be in front of goal.

Many have put Bent’s success down to the ammunition provided from wide men Ashley Young and Stewart Downing. However, since the end of the season both players have left the club, joining Manchester United and Liverpool respectively.

This has led many to speculate that the Villains will have to adapt their style of play and many have even suggested that with the Villain’s apparent lack of ambition, Bent may follow Young and Downing out the door.

However, the former Sunderland man has reassured fans that he’s going nowhere and is hoping this season will see the club challenge for Europe again. Those keeping track of the in play betting will be wondering how likely this is to happen.

“Obviously what Stewy and Ash did was for their careers – Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world, so they’ve got their reasons for doing it” he told the press. “But me, I’m more than happy to be here and play for Aston Villa. It’s a terrific football club.

However, with more than a month before the transfer window closes this is unlikely to be the end of the matter.
