North Island, New Zealand

Two days left to spend in New Zealand. Tomorrow we are leaving for Tahiti. The day was tough. It started in Rotorua with thermal treatment in the Polinesian Spa, one of the 3 best spas on the planet. And it was good. The only thing is bad in Rotorua: the air here smells of hydrogen sulfide. I couldn’t stand one more day here.

Waiotapu is a geyzer and thermal activity park, but unfortunately the geyzer was sleeping while we were there for half an hour. However we managed to take pictures of wonderful thermal lakes, including ones of violet color.

On our way to Taupo we visited the best hotel in Australia and Oceania, number 4 in the world, Huka Lodge, with the price starting from 1000USD per night per person. And it certainly is heaven on  the earth, especially for fishermen. I haven’t ever come across such comfort, landscape design and food anywhere before. One more bright impression of the day is Waitomo cave, with its luminescent worms and underground river, where you can go in for black water rafting which is famous all over the world.

And, certainly, what is the most striking thing today that is Oakland. I would say that Oakland isn’t New Zealand. Moreover, you can’t find anywhere else such a dramatic difference between the country and its capital. There are several peculiarities: 30% of all cars are posh ones like Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, Subaru Impreza. 30% of all population are freaks, having very weird clothes and extravagant behavior.

For example, young people, standing on a crossroad, take off their shoes and with the light turning green start running across all four sides. Or the girl coming off the bus makes a completely indecent offer, for no particular reason.
And traditionally evening finished with wine.
