Megaman 3

Megaman 3 on the NES was a great game and strangely enough, the first Megaman game I ever played. I know a lot of people believe that the the second installment was the best of all the classic Megaman games, but personally, I like this one the best. Like all the other early Megaman games, you begin with a quick intro with some kick ass techno jam followed by the Brady Bunch style level select screen. After determining a solid strategy (selecting Top Man) it is time to get into the game. There are eight enemy robots to choose from in the beginning followed by four multi-enemy stages and then Dr. Wily's castle itself. The gameplay is just like all the other classic Megaman games except in this one you have the ability to slide into tight spaces. Speaking of the controls, they are standard and are really easy to get acquainted with. You will likely find yourself jumping and sliding when you don't need to just because it is fun to make the little blue bastard get jiggy. In addition to smooth controls, the soundtrack is catchy as all hell. I always find myself humming along and making up weird lyrics while I'm playing through.
In regards to difficulty, this is probably the easiest Megaman game as it was the only one I have ever been able to beat without the game genie. Yeah, I love these games, I'm just not any good at them. Anyway, if you have played any of these games you pretty much get it so I won't bother dipping too deeply into the story (which is pretty stock). I'd definitely recommend this and any other Megaman game to any old school gamer. Also, if you happen to own a Nintendo Wii, I'd recommend downloading Megaman 9 which is faithful to the old school titles. In the meantime, here is a clip from Youtube of Megaman 3 and 9!
