Camp Ministry
Wednesday, 19 November 2008
Perhaps the most intense and intensely satisfying ministry I have ever had the privilege to be involved in is children's camps. I have been the camp pastor for Journey for Kids Camps, sponsored by the Tennessee Baptist Convention, for the past two years. Never have I given so much of myself in so short a time and seen such a God-sized return! And not only in the lives of campers and church sponsors, but my own life has been dramatically changed as well. I have never before been so challenged spiritually. A week of summer camp is a period of intense focus on God that includes evangelism, missions, discipleship, ministry, worship, fellowship, and prayer. Extraneous concerns are minimized and/or removed so that campers and adult church sponsors can experience a movement of God unhindered by other concerns. If you have never been to camp as a sponsor, or have never given your children the opportunity to be changed by the camp experience, I encourage you to do it this coming summer!Click on the highlighted links for more information about TBC Journey Camp 2009 and to download a PDF article about camps from the Baptist & Reflector, the official news journal of Tennessee Baptists.
